Two weeks in heaven, without a doubt one of the best places in Scotland, if you want to rest, walk or angle, photographers and artists are continually busy with the ever changing light on the water and hills.
Twice a day the tide washes the beaches and twice a day that marvellous water rushes in and makes the place look like the West Indies without the palm trees. The cottage I was in had everything I could ask for and space for 5 people comfortably. A large bathroom with a great shower, the kitchen was well equipped with white goods and every pot and pan you would need. The lounge window looks across the bay towards the Harris Hills and I had a chair there for 14 days, who needs TV which was provided. I would never dream of going anywhere else if holidaying on Harris.

Un excellent cottage a louer
Nous avons loue un cottage “self catering” pour une semaine en Octobre, nous etions 6 avec des enfants. Un excellent choix tant pour la location que pour la qualite du cottage. Nous avions 3 chambres, 2 sdb, une grande cuisine / salle a manger, et un vue superbe sur les plages environnantes. Il y avait une tele, lecteur dvd, chaines satellite… La proprietaire, Catherine, nous a facilite la recherche de crabes et homards, qui ont pu etre livres a domicile par le pecheur lui meme. Un excellent choix, et de tres bonne qualite. Catherine nous a meme prete les casseroles pour les cuisiner ! L acces aux plages environnantes peut se faire soit a maree basse a pied directement, ou 2min en voiture pour faire le tour de la baie. De grandes plages de sable blanc dont on ne se lasse pas. Nous n avons pas ete gate par la meteo, 2 grosses tempetes sont passees par la, mais la vue des vagues etait superbe, beaucoup de vent malgre tout et une pluie a l horizontale, nous sommes en ecosse ! Le cottage est situe a 15min en voiture de Tarbert, pour prendre le ferry pour Skye (Uig). Traversee “courte” d’1h30… Activitees principales ? ballades sur les plages, on peut meme voir des phoques pecher, cerf volant pour les enfants, ramassage de coquillages, golf pour les plus grand a 10min en voiture, eglise de Rodel a 30min au sud, et l ile de Lewis a proximite, 1h de voiture pour Stornoway qui vaut le detour.
